There should be Farsi/Persian on Duolingo

Yes, it should have Parsi. I would love it, it's my favorite language in the world.

But having European languages was not a bias, it was a market want for a service made in the West.

No one is stopping any country from developing their app for their own language. And all over the World European languages are the most international (not entering on why, that's history, not linguistics).

The immense majority of the world population would chose an European language as second or third language due to the economical impact of those. In Asia you may see more local appeal to other languages, but always after English. And always for a specific, localized area; English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, will get you around the World.
