These Are Hard Times

Keen eyes saw the expression on the blonde woman's face even before they saw the spread of scarlet over her skin, the stumps of missing fingers. Kára cursed under her breath and then aloud, forcing her way into the middle of the circle. "Everyone go back to your duties!" Her voice carried over the gathered Ironborn with forceful finality, and her cool fingers encircled the wrist attached to Rosey's maimed hand. "You fool."

Splintered bone pushed through torn flesh, and the severed ends of tendons hung limply within the horrid wound. An axe was built for smashing as much as cutting, and it was not a clean injury as it would have been with a sword. "Whose crew are you with, and what in the name of the Drowned God were you even thinking, challenging her?" Her voice was both harsh and gentle, an undulating melody that offered both reassurance and chastisement.

Her turbulent gaze turned to the Lion of Lannister, whom had thrown a scrap of leather so carelessly to this woman, as if letting her bleed out would better suit his needs. "Your wife instigated this ordeal, cripple. If you had been paying her attention and not other women perhaps she wouldn't have had the idiotic notion of slinging an axe at one of her own people."

Kára Tawney was long past her days of hellfire and spittle, but she could feel it returning, the anger that had plagued her youth at every turn. She bound the Ironborn womans' hand tightly, a temporary measure, and she took three steps, slamming the sole of her boot into the back of Lucion Lannisters' handicapped leg. "Torric swore an alliance to you, and you'll treat my people with respect, from the lowest thrall to your high-strung hussy!"

She'd struck him, and as his leg gave out she spit on the ground before him. The Ironborn who were gathered to watch the spectacle all reached for their weapons, but only as a precaution. Lady Tawney had hellfire in her eyes as she took Rosey by the arm, guiding her through the camp of crimson and gold tents. An uneasy murmur went up from those in attendance, and she knew they had a right to be nervous.

I guess lions do fall far more easily than I thought.
