Thinking about US to Canada...

Winter is cold everywhere but BC. Summers in the interior of BC are mostly crappy now due to constant wildfires and smoke.

Vancouver is prohibitively expensive unless you bought in 25 years ago.

The island is amazing but overpriced and the backcountry access is more limited now due to private forest companies putting up a web of gates.

Anywhere in western Canada where there is oilfield resources, the price of housing has skyrocketed and drugs are rampant.

I would stay in the USA or go to a developing country where your dollar will get you set up. Maybe do US contract work for part of the year.

The USA is so vast and there are so many places to choose from that have great weather and affordable rural living costs.

Just my opinion.
