Tips for getting back into RP

I'm not a hundred percent sure what you are asking, but here goes:

Quick note beforehand: this subreddit is specifically about the FFG Version of Star Wars RPG - i.e. the one currently being sold. It's built on special dice and thus comes with restrictions in (online) play.

There are about four major possibilities to run (an) SWRPG:

1) Voice only. Obviously barebones as nothing else; you'd have to trust your players on what they roll on their dice.

2) Voice combined with an online Diceroller. In the case of SWFFG there's a browserbased dice roller and one for discord (just search for it in the subreddit) by user SkyJedi (so the same that made the site)

3) roll20.net allows for all generic (i.e. numeric) dice and certain special dice (like for FATE) to be rolled with just free accounts. It also comes with many tools for maps etc. If one of your group becomes a pro-subscriber (10$/month) and opens the game (doesn't need to be the GM), you can also work with a pretty good character sheet and the dice without a problem [it's possible to implement the dice without paying, but it's a bit of a PITA]

4) Fantasy Grounds is a paid application (either upfront and I think forever? or subscription based) similar to roll20, but more fancy and imho a bit more clumsy too - it doesn't feel intuitive at all to me.

4b) You could theoretically also run a game on TableTop Simulator, but preparation is a bit cumbersome (not as much as a miniature game tho imho) and I'd say it's a bit more reliant on third party software, e.g. I find it quite annoying to read more than a sentence or two in TTS.

Both 4)-Options come with the added benefit of having dice to "physically" roll. roll20 does come with an option for 3D dice but I'm not sure the FFG dice are implemented.
