In 2013, I was a student in Finland, and missed the extension of my student permit when I had to travel to my home country (non-EU) for family matters. Applied for a new permit there and traveled back with a schengen visa. A month later my permit was denied so I appealed, as I was still registered, and waited in Finland as I thought I had a right to remain while I had a permit/appear ongoing. It turned out it only worked if permit application had been made in Finland. So I went to the police station and described my situation. They thanks me for going straight up to them, gave me a fine for about 10 months, told that it wouldn't affect future permits, and gave me a piece of paper to hand to the passport police on my way out (Who looked at it, smiled and said "You got a fine", and stamped my passport.). I paid the fine netbank immediately of course.

That was in summer of 2014. I worked hard back home and I am now applying to jobs in Finland and getting offers, as a software guy. (The quick permit, for experts). Would my overstay and paying a fine in 2014 affect my valid work permit application with work contract and everything?
