Traditional Chinese Script

"Or maybe you should check your English cultural hegemony privilege before calling for an entire people to change their mother tongue for your convenience."

You seem to misinterpret the point of my post. I have already done this, as I am acknowledging that 1/6 of the world's population speak Mandarin as a first language, but those that speak it as a second language pales in comparison.

If you have any aspirations for Chinese on the world stage and for it to be perhaps be one day universally accepted as a lingua franca, something needs to change with regards to the writing system because utilizing a catalog of thousands of unique characters for each word is neither efficient nor palatable to ALL foreigners, not just those that are English-speaking.
