Hey man, I work at a Target in the back room, and we deal with the online orders and whatnot. You've got to take into consideration the time of year. This time of year, the company brings on a bunch of seasonal employees and they're quickly trained and placed on the job. So often times we've got a lot of new people dealing with a massive influx of online orders. The people that handle the online orders are also the ones that pull product from the back room (every hour on the hour) and bring it out to the sales floor, handle any requests for products from the back room from customers, and help with taking down pallets of product in the back whenever requested. We're on a pretty tight schedule with our hands pretty full. All the employees, really.

When an online order drops, we are told about it amidst our other tasks (times tasks, mind you), and have to go to the sales floor, find the product, and place it in holding for the customer. Often times, the system is at fault due to it not updating the quantities available online until up to 24 hours after the end of the business day. So the order goes without the item. Other times, the item is found and placed into holding and the system occasionally removes them from the location, and they become more difficult to find. When an order isn't picked up for 48 hours, we're told to remove it. Some individuals remove the item from the wrong order due to inattentiveness.

But really, the whole staff is under a lot of stress around the holidays, especially the very small team responsible for getting those online orders and making sure those shelves are stocked. It's been rough! People make mistakes, don't take it personally.
