Yes, crumbling your BRF cakes is an option. Really, you can follow any bulk method and substitute your your cake crumbs for the colonized grain. But it's only worth the effort if you're crumbling to an enriched coir or horse manure. Otherwise, don't bother.

But my advice to you is to finish the grow you planned on. Bulk can wait.
