The U.S. Media Is Completely Unprepared to Cover a Trump Presidency

I like Chris Matthews, but that transcript with him and Coulter kind of makes me hate him. On election night he was trying to make sense of Trump's win and pointed out Hillary's missteps and flaws. His critical analysis is insightful and he tends to openly speak from the heart more than most pundits. That's sort of what I take from his conversation with Coulter. When he says that Bush won the war I really believe Matthews is just describing it how the American public is perceiving the unfolding events. He even goes into description about Bush's entrance and the fanfare of it all. And he was with Coulter, so I also think he was just goading her on to have a conversation about the spectacle.

Or maybe Matthews really did buy into the propoganda and thought the war was won, but I doubt that. But how was he supposed to know either way, I'm sure a lot of other people thought that the war was over to at that point.

On election night when Trump won Matthews drew the ire of Maddow because he was mentioning flaws in Hillary's campaign, like how she never mentioned things about immigration when it's a real concern to a lot of Americans. Matthews isn't stupid, but I believe the old guard of journalists need to step down as they have become too complacent and doddering. When the media hedges their bets in favor of not offending anyone with the truth or real criticism then they've stopped serving their purpose to reveal the truth.
