Unjerk Thread of December 08, 2017

Those games lose me even quicker than that. Every other generation or so I think, “Yeah! I had fun with that game! I should try again, and this time I’m going to catch them all!” And then after 10-15 hours of walking through grass where I keep seeing the same damn common Pokémon over and over, in a battle system that makes even the fastest encounter a 10-20 second affair, I start to dread the sight of grass progressively more until I give up and play something else.

It makes me think of the Battle Network games, which shared a little bit of the gotta catch ‘em all DNA. Except there the random battles had a responsive action element and could be over and done with in 1-2 seconds total as you got better. So much more humane.
