I don’t like any of those movies. I’m confused whether we’re talking about the criticism of the masses or of recognized film critics. The masses are not film students as you seem to be so idk why you’d be expecting your value of filmcraft over story. I also don’t know what requirements one would have to be a “film critic” if that’s who you’re talking about.

Also, I’m not sure I care what film theory you cite, if a mainstream blockbuster, written by an established book author, can’t be criticized for its story I don’t know what to say.

Even if we took that concept of visual over narrative as a “fact,” you can’t expect people to like a movie just cuz it looks or sounds cool.
