UOForever vs /r/UltimaOnline

It's more than that Karl. And thanks for asking. Now, without turning this into a giant novel, let me just explain first a brief timeline of events so that everyone, including Vorspire who says he has no ties with An Corp players and doesn't understand the situation.

First, there was IPY2 ran by Azaroth. The community there seemed very large, mostly because players were fishing on upwards of 10-20 characters each, fishing and selling fishsteaks. This was allowed to transpire simply to pump gold into the economy so that Az could maximize profits from the donation shop. I am truly the only non-donating player who can verify that he was also selling T2A access to donators, so they could farm gold in private in massive amounts. I once ended up there due to a glitch, and after marking a rune there, trying to recall back to it yielded this message: ''Your account does not have the privilages required to access T2A, for access please visit [donationshop''

The population of IPY2 is the same people as now play An Corp. Everyone was extremely angry at Az for making so much money and never paying anyone to code the shard and fix problems, or add content. My personal belief is that Az was just not capable of finding a person who he could trust wouldn't steal the code or try to ruin the shard, which if you take a look at the community he had to work with, is not hard to believe. Even I am guilty of seeing everyone cheating and basically joining in, after I had used an euo script to massively farm NPCs that I was able to place myself with no cooldown on doing so. I can't take all the credit for that though, since I am obviously not capable of writing EUO scripts at all, but together me and some mates showed the cheaters how it's done, that much is certain.

Well, after IPY2 was down to about 6 clients online for it's final months, their forum became a sespool of Az hate threads and an epic roast it was. Az really didn't deserve that, in my opinion. His final move was to show everyone that it was not true that he was not able to share, and that is basically proven by how he gave out the code. I think his true goal was not self preservance in his final move, however, but rather ending the IPY name to smite these, self-serving, individuals that would stoop to using personal attacks and ganging up on the forums. etc.

So I hope you can see now Vorspire, Carl, that coming here and joining the bandwagon with these same people who did that to Az and helping them try to do the same exact thing to Shane, who by comparison, has really made all the right moves, even if you disagree he has and I know that not only I, but the entire playerbase of UOF is extremely impressed by what he has done. He has taken that code and grown it into something beautiful that pays homage to those who originally developed it. I'm sure if they had an account on this subreddit, they would agree with that wholeheartedly.

Now I understand how you fellers are upset, but using your status as Veterans to aid these trolls is appauling. I hope that you will come around now that you better understand the timeline of events that has caused this community to suffer for so long. Look at who is paying the price now for all of this drama?? Shane?? Luthius?? These are not bad people, they are not money hungry, they just want to make people entertained and make people happy. They do the best they can, so think about that while you're doing your worst.

Now I haven't done anything yet, BUT. I KNOW that one of the moderators here IS UOAC staff and a member of that same community who ENJOYS this drama and I'm really hoping that he can see what a mess this has caused for everyone. I hope more members here will read this, and try to find examples where people have been unreasonably cruel in their posts and bring reason to the table where it is SO needed at this point.

Look, I implore you who really want to see this place be as good as it was before all this happened to get involved. When you see someone using personal attacks or shard bashing, don't join them. I know many of us are guilty of this, me included. Since I'm asking everyone not to apologize who otherwise would, I won't either just to make things fair. I hope everyone will enjoy their spring/summer this year so that they aren't this depressing again next winter. sheesh
