USA residents of Reddit: How is your work life in the USA? Job description? Hours? Pay? Stress? Control over work/life balance? Job security? Benefits? Vacation/Sick leave?

-Financial Analyst (Contractor)

-40hrs/wk

-Pay? Very Good

-Stress? Because I'm a contractor I have a specific set of tasks to do, thus not a stressful job. However, when contract has ended, its up to me to find the next role, thus can be very stressful as you live off unemployment and savings as you apply for new roles.

-Work/Life? Good, I work a 40hr week and the business avoids me working overtime because that is then time and a half.

-Job security? None. As a contractor, I am at the mercy of when the company needs me or not. They like to always say "this job may lead to a full time position" but it generally never does; its just a hook in hopes you don't leave before they at a position to leave you.

-Benefits? Working through a contracting company that actually has a okay 401K plan. Other than that, no medical/dental/vision and no paid holidays or vacation.

Contracting in general has the perks of paying very well, but the pitfalls of nearly no benefits and job security. Would honestly prefer a full-time position that pays less and have benefits, but companies today are looking for a more fluid workforce while avoid paying for healthcare and such.
