View of a cis-man on the non-binary thing, trying to know if it meet your experience

genders are social groups rather than a collection of traits.

this collection of traits ur describing- eg liking sports for men- is the trend in traits for men and women: masculinity and femininity. as you know men arent always 100% 'masculine' and its common & normal to be in some ways 'feminine'

(i think the terms masculine and feminine are a little outdated since they overgeneralise what men and women are like)

however how masculine and feminine you are, ie how you act/what you like, dont determine your gender.

genders are social groups/categories. you could have a woman who loves sports, hunting, beer, being boisterous (not that thats necessarily a bad thing), etc. all masculine traits- but she's still a woman.

non binary people are neither men nor women, which isnt because they arent exclusively masculine or feminine, its because they dont fit into the social groups 'men' or 'women'
