My cousin didn’t go through something quite the same as this but his wife was diagnosed with bipolar and refused to take medication. She grew more and more manic and her behavior became more erratic. She tried to frame my cousin for rape mutliple times by trying to seduce him and then telling him she would have reported him for rape after he declined. She admitted this on recording but apprently the recording was inadmissible. She would call 911 at least once a day and tell them she thought my cousin was suicidal and had a gun. It got to the point where she assaulted my cousin (drawing blood) while he was holding their child. The 911 operator witnessed this and put it in the report.

The judge on the case (there were mutiple hearings) at NO point granted my cousin even temporary emergency custody of the baby. And even though cousins wife was arrested for DV and felony child endangerment, the DA DID NOT PURSUE THE CASE! Eventually CPS stepped in (literally thank god for them) and awarded my cousin sole custody until his wife can get her mental illness under control.
