I confidentially believe I could wipe my ass with you.

I also know if I’m somehow wrong, it would be horribly embarrassing and hurt what little pride or confidence I do have.

By denying you, I keep my pride and confidence while denying you the chance to prove yourself, thereby keeping my mental state as one where I’m better than you, and you can’t prove me wrong.

So again, why would I take you up on that? I’d have to be real stupid to try to back myself up if there’s a chance I’m wrong, the risk/reward is NOT there at all.
