If this had been a Bush or Trump administration the nations top news story all last week would have been about how inept and uncaring the administration was. How the President wants Grandma to die and what a horrible racist he is for not going down for a visit and commiserating with suffering minorities. (Of course as Bush proved if you are a republican President and you go to a natural disaster, then you are also a horrible racist for getting into responders way for a photo op, really damned either way).

Instead the top story was Ted Cruz going to Mexico. barely a peep about the inaction by the Biden administration for days in the face of a natural disaster.

We can have a debate about the proper role of the federal government in these situations. But this is a pretty good example of differing standards the media in this country has depending on the letter behind a politicians name.
