Weekly /r/bangtan Room (방탄방) - October 14, 2017

I was never really down to buy all 4 version of LY:H because I never buy more than one of the same CD, so I only pre-ordered one LY:H album from Amazon. Then earlier when I still thought my local Best Buys were going to carry LY:H albums at the stores, I planned to buy one of the versions I didn't get from Amazon at Best Buy (or Target had it been available in stores) for the novelty of the buying-from-a-store experience. Turns out when 10/4 came around, no local store near me was carrying the album and my Amazon pre-order shipment also got delayed so I was a sad panda when I didn't get the album until two days after.

The past weekend I was in NYC and I had checked that there were Best Buy stores in NYC that had the album. So I made a trip to the store in Union Square that was listed online as one of the available locations. I was disappointed that it wasn't displayed in the music section they had, which was pretty much just one rack in the corner. I had to ask three different employees to try to find the album and they kept telling me to check the self-service kiosk (it was literally just a browser with a bestbuy.com portal to search the inventory... which I had already checked before coming to the store and again at the store). Eventually I got an employee to go check in the back room and the guy found one O version, which I didn't really want. I asked if they had any other versions and he said he could only find this one and even that one was mixed up in a pile of other stuff (tbh, not my problem that their store room is poorly organized...), so I ended up not buying. I was really looking forward to the prospect of being able to buy the CD in a store and this whole debacle made me a little sad and deflated about all the hype around BTS's growing presence in the US market. I guess we just have a long way to go still.
