Anything beyond "a few beers" is way worse than weed. Once you get past that light buzz stage and in to drunkenness, it often leads to emotional distress, in some cases violence and then feeling like absolute shit the next day. The list of side effects from alcohol reads pretty fucking poorly. You're literally poisoning yourself with it. If any other drug had the same profile it'd be slapped with the highest schedule immediately. But, for some fucked up reason as a society we accept it.

Weed, on the other hand, can provide fantastic anxiety and pain relief for a lot of people and encourage creativity without all the nasty side effects of alcohol and at a fraction of the cost. You also won't hear any stories about someone one punching another random person in to a coma because they'd had too many joints.
