TIL Nazi war criminals are still being tracked down in the US. The most recent Poland requested the extradition of 98-year-old Minnesota man Michael Karkoc, who is believed by authorities to have been a commander of a Nazi-led unit that was responsible for war crimes during World War II.

Except that this would insult the memory of the millions who had no peaceful end. Why should we allow them to die without punishment? That kind of attitude makes genocides and atrocities possible. If punishment should be traded for compassion, then we ought as well applaud that many bad people were never punished for their crimes. Surely the compassionate thing to do would be to leave them unmolested.

That reminds me, since hatred begets hatred, we should stop persecuting rapist pedophiles. Sure, they rape and torture children, but imprisoning them would only bring more hatred into the world. And, I mean, some of them are really old! I say, let the rapist pedophile, who is now an old man, live a peaceful life till the end. Forget that we have documentation of all the children he tortured, raped, and killed. He's old, look! Let him enjoy his golden years. Oh, I'm sure the parents of the children he killed would be okay with it, since, after all, hatred only begets hatred.

In case you are simple, I was being sarcastic. If you object to my sarcasm, then you will have conceded that rapist pedophiles are worse than hypothetical Auschwitz guards, even though the latter facilitated more child torture than any single pedophile.
