What about Homogenic and Vespertine makes them so popular?

I think there are just too many subgenres of pop for this statement to be correct. Bjork has regularly described her music as pop songs. Experimental pop, art pop, orchestral pop. It's such a daunting conversation to have.

Any label you give her work would be incomplete. Experimental isn't correct. Neither is trip-hop, classical, alternative, or avant-garde... yet all those labels aren't incorrect either. People just say "pop" because it's more all-encompassing, and makes for easier discussion. Saying "they're not pop" is almost redundant to say. Sure, they're not pop. But they're not not pop either. And around that circular conversation goes. Surely there are better uses of your time today?

What you could have done was offer an explanation as to why they aren't pop instead of solely being contrarian. But you didn't. Because you couldn't. Because "pop" is a perfectly fine label for it.
