Yeah, I actually think the chorus is very pretty but the verses are repetitive and quite awkward. I think it's her style of songwriting now, the lyrics are written first and then the melody has to catch up them somehow. It's almost spoken word, like reading a text.

In a way I do find it interesting but there's an awkwardness to it that prevents it from sounding emotional to me unfortunately. The "the machine of her breathed all night/revealed her resilience/and then it didn't" bit being sung a cappella should elicit some emotion in me but the melody is so meh and the singing so strained that I just don't feel anything. It's sad to me.

I do love the arrangements though and the last time the chorus is sung is beautiful.
