Royve Serna the Fourth, encountering the projection of Kohilus in the Halls of Varsoon. Serna seeks the counsel of his Sage, Fara, which leads him to use an ancient heirloom said to allow its user to affect time.

With the approaching armies of Jraumid soon reaching the city gates, Serna activates the heirloom. Not knowing what will come, Serna faces the ethereal image of an entity, identified by a shocked and cowering Fara as Kohilus, Sovereign of Time, Eidolith Aman to the Wellspring.

Serna, his privileged station prompting arrogance and haughty demand, vocalizes his incredulous belief that he might soon face his kingdom's demise and is own life lost. To which the Kohilus lowers himself to respond...

Kohilus "How can I, you ask? How? I already have, it is no longer question of how I might... I've already seen your writhing beneath the decay of myriad corpses, whereas you simply shout at me, breathlessly, for something I need not justify. You simply need wait for that moment to arrive, how it arrives is nothing I need provide - it simply will be."

Serna "You cannot tell..."

Kohilus "I TELL YOU NOTHING, BOY. I dictate the narrative, you merely follow the text. Do not dare to dictate me. The only reason you continue exist now is because I, too, am subject to the laws I enforce. I may not erase you from what has been, but now that you have come to me, foolishly questioning your fate, I can most certainly might leave you regretting having been written!"
