What happens to preconstruction buyers now

A lot of very wealthy people I went to university with did this after they graduated. They just live off their generational wealth because there's no gift tax in Canada so their parents bought them a house or apartment then the parents pay for all of their bills (you can receive up to 25k/month in Canada via e-transfers and if it is a gift it is not income), then they work 1-2 days a week at a coffee shop, bar, or a thrift store (not taking shots at these jobs but its always one of these few places). They technically are low-income because with CRA they only have to claim their earned income then they benefit from any of those services intended for those who are truly poor
