What the Heck Happened to This Show?!

I have to agree. The characters went from being realistically flawed to self-righteous jerks. I got hooked on the show because no matter how much I disliked some of the characters' actions, it was ultimately about a family learning and growing through tragedy. People are not perfect.

But the way that this week's episode sort of framed the Pearsons' treatment of Kate's friend, the lady eating chips, and Miguel (as usual) as somehow relatable or normal was what lost me. The constant elbow nudging and eye rolling about anyone who isnt them or is slightly annoying to them. As I'm watching I'm thinking "Am I supposed to relate to this? Am I supposed to think 'Stupid annoying lady eating her chips and being happy' or 'Omg Kate's friend is so annoying. Why is she even there? Kick her to the curb as rude as you possibly can!'".
