what kind of sorcery is this?

I don't like to call science magic. It's not magic. It's science. just because I can't personally recreate a TV doesn't mean that I think it's some unexplainable force that I need to call "magic"

You are using your predefined notion of what magic is, and it's assocation with the super natural and religion to try and counter my claim.

Look at history and see what and where and why people have called something "magic". Literally, it's an ignorance of laws and forces but an observation of the effects of them. The usage of the term "magic" in my context of this conversation was to simply play on the word and be a little more philosophical in the sense that yes magic is a real thing, despite how it's been defined in the past, I gave you my definition of it which I think completely applies.

Magic can be seen as this supernatural thing that gods and sorcerers conjure up or it can be seen as literally a lack of knoweldge and a lack of understanding about very real and very true concepts. In my same context I can utilize a very applicable Neil DeGrasse Tyson quote talking about god. Just replace "god" with magic and you have my sentiment:

God/Magic is an ever receding pocket of scientific ignorance.

just because I can't personally recreate a TV doesn't mean that I think it's some unexplainable force that I need to call "magic".

That's not the point. The point is you have a good idea at how the forces and physics of something work, you are ignorant of how the device functions and how it operates. You are ignorant of it's forces. The same could be said about a Ancient man seeing an exploding black powder for the first time and saying that was magic too. Instead of basic physics.
