Well, the big cultural gatekeepers still pander mostly to liberal sensibilities. It's not like Charlie Kirk or Don Jr. would get to plug their books on Colbert or NPR. Ben Shapiro and Jordan Peterson won't get shows on HBO or Netflix. Even conservative mainstays like football, nascar, and country music are being transformed by younger, less reactionary fanbases.

So Trump and conservatives really are a counter-culture in that sense, albeit the lamest one imaginable.

And, much like the original punks, they're largely talentless and nihilstic, motivated more by what they hate than what they love, and appeal mostly to comfortable suburban teenage boys who buy in for aesthetic reasons, not political ones. Real punk fans know I'm right.
