What makes you stay on iOS

I don’t stay on iOS. I happily switch between iOS and Android regularly and think both are great.

Over he past ten years or so I’ve owned around 20 phones - roughly half and half iOS and Android, plus. Windows phone and Palm Pre for a while.

The thing is, pretty much everything you heard or know about iOS v Android is true. iOS gets updates, is more consistent and usually smoother, Android has more flexibility, and lets you do more.

Right now I use a Galaxy S9 - I have to say it’s the first Android I’ve had that doesn’t feel laggy and janky like all the others have, and all the apps I use are pretty much identical to their iOS versions. This definitely wasn’t true in the past. I’m also enjoying things like being able to side load apps that aren’t officially available- just yesterday I found that the new Spotify stations app isn’t available officially yet, but it’s easy to find and works perfectly. Similarly being able to set profiles based on where I am - eg Phone goes silent when I’m at work.

I do miss the consistent updates though - it’s insane that after all this time the Android fragmentation problem isn’t close to being solved. And it’s almost certain that The S9 will stop getting updates pretty soon anyway. But then again, I’ll sell it and probably switch back to iOS for a while anyway.

It’s really not that hard to switch back and forward, so long as you are happy to use google services. This is a downside for a lot of people.

But yeah, don’t feel like you have to stay in 1 or the other, just switch around - they’re both pretty great.
