It's less "it doesn't sound right" and more "this supposedly widespread occurrence is completely non-existent." CC is obviously real, the east coast is currently being buried under a mountain of snow. There is no such obvious oppression of the blacks or anyone else. I have a girlfriend who is half-black, half-Indonesian who is going into EMS and says she's been encouraged by many people to apply to be a firefighter. Professional FF jobs are very competitive (often 500+ applicants per position), but she says she would be a virtual shoe-in for being a woman and a minority. They're application is graded with scores for physical fitness, mental intelligence, etc. and she gets a lot of extra points for her demographics. I'm certainly happy for my friend and her career, but at the same time I can't look at that pretend she isn't getting an enormous advantage just for her skin color.

and also if you never feel it's out of place when you're watching a movie that is like 200% white, then you need to expand your social circle and come into the 21st century.

even movies where white dudes are 'Egyptians' aside it's just uncomfortable and awkward for me when I watch a show with absolutely no people of color in it. that's not what the world looks like and it's really jarring.

If I take a walk through the local park it's a lot more white than what I see on TV.
