What Red Letter Media Got Wrong (Hoth White: Why Diversity Matters In STAR WARS)

Just...lol.

If you want to do something about sexism and racism, then stop labelling people, stop putting them into boxes

You and I are treated differently because of the way we look. Sticking my head in the sand doesn't change that reality. With that in mind, so long as you and I are both treated differently I'm absolutely going to advocate for additional diversity and representation - because failing to do so simply allows another avenue of marginalization to go without comment.

I'm confident that one day we'll get to a point where no one thinks or talks about race and everyone is treated equally. But it's not going to be because all the minorities just unilaterally stopped talking about it.

I'm a white European male, but I have no problem identifying with Ellen Ripley

Yeah? I'm not and I still identify with Peter Parker. That doesn't mean I don't get excited when I see someone who looks like me on TV. Why? Because having people like me in media means that people might actually begin seeing me as someone "normal" and stop asking stupid questions like "where I'm actually from".
