What would be the best way to prevent strict/abitrary hierarchies from arising?

Okay but I’m talking about the pilot and the copilots, nobody else. First off, the pilot has the most knowledge and experience on how to FLY the plane, I’m not talking about any other knowledge here, and it’s why he is given the position of pilot. You don’t need authority for there to be a hierarchy. The copilots looking up to the pilot because of his experience is a form of a knowledge/experience based hierarchy. People who don’t know better in a situation will listen and take advice from someone who does have that experience even when there’s no authority. That is a hierarchy. And second off, there is authority going on here. The copilots do have to take orders from the pilot because he is in a higher position than them. And the reason he is in a higher position is because he has the most experience and knowledge on flying a plane, so there’s a hierarchy. No matter how you put it there is a hierarchy going on here.

On top of what I said before, there absolutely is a hierarchy on a plane among all the people on it. The pilot is the #1 most important person on the plane. #2 is probably the copilots. If you don’t have a pilot or copilots you can’t fly a plane. Simple as that. People will die. Or you just can’t fly a plane. I’m not saying the flight attendants aren’t important, they are very important, but they don’t know how to fly a plane which is above all, the most important thing to know when we’re dealing with air travel here.
