While not exactly the premiership my local league had a system where after the league they had a finals series (similar to the A league). We have 12 teams and they break it up with a top 6 and a bottom 6. my team ended up in 11th place with 2 wins and 4 draws. the rest were losses (cant remember how many, we played some teams 3 times). our biggest loss was like 13-0. it was our first year in the competition. We won our first game 2-0 against the team who came last, (i scored) but our best player (he scored and assisted me) who also happened to be one of the best in the comp did his acl and was out for the season. the rest of the season was not so good. we started playing better after i got moved from striker to defense. i ended up with 3 goals for the season as a striker, ive always played as a defender but i wanted to score goals. im not a small man (fat) and i need to play with someone up top, the fella that got injured would play off me. so in the end we were participating in the bottom half finals. the format was like this. 9th vs 12th and we played the 10th place team. we ended up winning 2-1 (i scored again but it was an own goal). then it was us vs 8th. we ended up winning 3-2 with a late penalty. in the finals we ended up playing the 7th placed team. i dont know how but we ended up winning 2-0. i believe i scored from a corner but it was given as an own goal. i was taking a corner from the right side as a right footer and miss kicked it. i swear the ball wouldve gone in even if the defender didnt head it into his own net. the ref said it was impossible but oh well we ended up winning. big celebrations that year. the club was only around for 3 years. it shut down due to not having enough people (uni and work commitments). it was our only trophy.
