What's the Job Market like in South Carolina?

Best case for you is to move in the Rock Hill, Fort Mill, Indian Land area and commute to Charlotte. Medical careers make a lot more in North Carolina. I grew up near the border and this is how most people went to work to make more money. You could probably move anywhere near the border and just travel across the state line to work. My sister in law worked as a Dental Hygienist and told me she got an 8 dollar raise moving from a small office in Kershaw, SC to working in a dental office in Waxhaw, NC. She said she made $30/hr part time doing that. I'm going back to school for a RAD Tech Degree and the reported pay for an X-ray tech at Atrium Health(Charlotte Hospital) is is $26-28/hr. If you are an RN, it's more.

If you don't want to move to that area to do that Columbia's Hospital makes decent as well. I haven't heard much about Charleston or Greenville though.

A lot of people I know commute to a city and live in smaller towns to save money.
