What's your opinion on first responders getting priority service when they walk into a café/diner/restaurant while on duty?

Its good to give first responders priority, but then again there are many people doing essential jobs behind the scenes. Emergency services get many pats on the back because most of the tasks put them in view of the public eye. Not saying that they don't deserve the credit they get, but there's many more tasks that don't get credit. Take for example the man at the power grid who makes sure you along with numerous hospitals get the electricity they critically need. Or the man working the sewers ensuring nothing clogs up, thus everyday preventing disease from festering. Or the worker at the refinery, consistently servicing cities with the oil they require, thus helping keep inflation at bay. Thus, giving emergency service responders preferential treatment would be interpreting the importance of jobs superficially and therefore be biased against a lot of others who do equally essential work. Also giving preferential treatment to everyone doing "essential" work would be a n unnecessary logistical hassle. It's best we stick with the system we currently have, that is, assuming everyone with a job plays no more of an important role in society than the next.
