It’s best to call it ripening, and it all depends on your media and if you run a sterile water tank or not. Soil, you’re good with just water the whole cycle if you amend correctly (what’s the point of bringing synthetic nutrients to an organic system unless you messed up?), so you’re kind of always flushing if “water only” is the stipulation. What you’re actually doing is modifying your environment and/or preventing certain nutrient uptake. Nitrogen primarily. With coco/ rock wool and other inert media, you may have built up fertilizer that may sustain your plant for 2 weeks like many suggest, especially if you provide microbes in some manner (mammoth, recharge, tribus, photo plus, veg bloom life etc are big cannabis ones), but if you run sterile, you’re likely going to get bud rot because you’re stripping it of all it’s protection (cal mag is huge at the end). Usually water only in coco is about 5 days, rock wool is 3-5. I used to do 2 weeks in coco when running microbes, without them I just cut back my feed around week 8 and move to water only 5 days out. Compliments and not complaints, so I’d say people like it.
