I have a question for you guys

I am in this exact situation now. I've come to the conclusion that they just aren't seeing the same disgusting mess I do and therefore really don't care, as they are perfectly fine with dirty dishes stacked in the sink for 1+ week, leaving trash everywhere, not wiping up spills (that stain the countertops; luckily we don't have carpet), hoarding of various items while filling up the trash that they never take out with waste packaging from the constant shipments they receive daily to feed their hoarding habit, leaving standing water in the drain because it clogged from all the hair that shed during their monthly shower, leaving shit-stained toilet paper on the bathroom floor, never changing the toilet paper roll, etc.

Confronting them politely has only generated anger and defensiveness, with minimal change... So I personally have decided that I will keep cleaning up after them until their sublease is up in a few days. I just don't want the drama, and am now used to cleaning... But yeah no way in hell am I rooming with them again, and will be giving them notice that they will not be able to renew their sublease.

The light at the end of the tunnel for me is that my boyfriend and I will be getting our own place with no roommates once all of this is done. We've lived together for the past two years, and work well together, so no worries there.

Good luck!
