It doesn't mean you have to be a part of any particular fandom, make any art, or wear any costumes to make that fact count. (Although doing those can be big extensions to it, but they aren't necessary) I'm not the one who made up that definition, that's just how it is.

And yes I know what most general furry specific fandoms and websites are like, and I know that not everyone who likes stuff like Sonic likes those fandoms. That's not the point.
