Agreed. Its pretty sad that someone is labeled a hit selling artist when they perform songs that someone else wrote, over some recycled beat/synths/etc that someone else produced. Then on top of that many have shit like auto tune and backup singers so basically all they have to do is look trendy act for music videos.

Then theres the pop rap, which is nothing more than bragging over a beat. How much money they have, how many bitches they get, how hard they are, and just overall swaggotry. Plus now pretty much any popular song is any given rapper ft. three other rappers so all they have to do is come up with one verse each instead of coming up with an entire song. Like huh, weve got a chorus and two verses, we could finish this song, or we could just feature a couple other people to do versus so you can call it good.

EDM is at least somewhat original since the people making it actually make the music. I dont personally care for it, and I think its retarded how people spend a shit ton of money to go to an EDM performance where most "DJs" plug in their macbook and hit play on a playlist then pretend to act busy while fist pumping. Plus EDM concerts usually consist of said DJs playing some of their stuff mixed with tons of other popular EDM music since they dont have enough material to play for an entire show.

People dont know what they are missing when they only obsess with those styles of music. Seeing that band you always liked perform live is an unreal experience that rap/edm/pop will always fall short of IMO. Seeing a group of people on different instruments coming together to make one larger sound beats the tits off of a guy walking around waving his hand holding a mic, or a bunch of people wearing goofy clothes dancing behind a pop star.
