With VELMA getting a 2nd season, how would you pitch a show designed to be hate-watched?

Cynical wokeness is usually the biggest hate-watch. Topical politics gets people passionate about it, especially if it's on the nose in a way that gets the opponents of the views pissed about it. But people on the left seem to be way less ravenous for fictional conservative hate-watch content, we're generally way more into making fun of like, pundits saying dumb/heinous shit.

But conservative culture-war vultures are way into getting pissed off about fictional depictions of racial or LGBTQ stuff.

But if the thing is actually any good, then people might actually like it and then the thousand "go woke go broke" video essays will get drowned out by people actually enjoying yourselves, so you need a show that is a) Bad enough that they can feel vindicated in "go woke go broke", but also b) Somehow important enough that they actually feel like it's a potential threat in some way.

So really, Velma is like, a perfect storm. Changing white people to minorities gets them in a tizzy, a lot of people don't like the show anyway, and it's a big classic Americana property so they feel defensive about it.
