Woman denied $43 million jackpot, offered steak dinner instead

This makes me sad. The fact that she would be happy with only fraction of the her stated winnings ($6000) means she could really use the money. They basically robbed this poor woman. Shouldn't the casino be maintaining the machines and making sure they work properly? This is a digital machine, so it's malfunction was the fault of whoever programmed it. When was the last time a high tech piece of equipment that you own malfunctioned and displayed incorrect numbers or decimal places? I could see if you were using an old school slot machine with moving compliments and someone banged on (and damaged) it, causing it to to stop on the jackpot. When you enter a casino, you should (and rightfully so) assume the machines are not malfunctioning, which by definition means: not functioning normally or in a satisfactory manner. People are putting money in these machines, so if they were not in proper working order prior to a big win, everyone who's paid into it has, essentially, been scammed. By admitting they have a machine that doesn't work properly, they are admitting everyone who's paid into it since it's last service check has had their money stolen.
