It is worth taking college classes or just do solo study for certs like Network+?

A+, Net+, and Sec+ are great certs for getting into the help desk/customer service role. Considering you have an engineering degree already, I personally recommend advising against schooling or even these certs in some regard. I say this since I assume your degree is math heavy. But if you really want, these can be knocked out in maybe 2-3 months tops, with relatively little effort.

I think projects will be the winning contender here. Build a github profile, learn languages, create things you can demonstrate. Unless you want to go the customer service route, I'll refrain from commenting on that path since I basically want to set fire to my degree everyday.
