Would a horror game based around Reach or Harvest be viable?

Speaking personally, the Xenomorph just doesn't scare me any more. As a kid Alien was the scariest movie I had seen for years and it was until I watched The Descent. But that's just it, I was a kid when I watched Alien, I was a kid when I watched The Descent, and The Thing, and a whole bunch of horror / Slasher flicks.

I first watched Alien when I was nine, and The Descent when I was 12, so when I watched The Blair Witch Project a couple years later it just was a frustrating comedy.

It's the nature of desensitization. I would love to really feel scared from a movie again but it keeps getting harder and harder. The other year I watched Rosemary's Baby then The Witch a couple weeks later and all I could think was how much more effective Rosemary's Baby was in subjecting it's viewer to visceral horror.

I do find games to be more scary because there's an increase of agency. But it's a very delicate balance between horror and frustration.
