The official Chinese stance is that it was a zoonotic outbreak from an illegal meat market. They're not being as ambiguous about its origins as you suggest they are. I'm not saying that it doesn't match up with the Chinese government's story, but the report outlines a few points that suggest otherwise.

I wouldn't put much stock in a US minority oversight report signed by a single Republican senator. Not without some good reason.

Why not at the very least consider it if they raise decent arguments? Unless you're so partisan you blindly reject anything someone says just because it comes from the other side. I would consider that foolish at best.

Those genetic markers are not evidence of human manipulation in any way I would understand it.
