Is your country underrated as a vacation spot? If yes, what should people visit?

i'm going to be honest and say we are overrated. we have a beautiful country but imho ruined by over-development for tourists. alot of modern tourist resorts of turkey used to just rural towns or villages. you would have got a very nice experience as you could have a beach holiday but you would have got a more local feel. now tourism made the government greedy and in those regions the only money goes to tourism, locals are literally pushed to the back. majority of tourist resorts in turkey look like this now, this is benidorm in spain btw, and the majority of these buildings are hotels and you have the local population living in shitty conditions hidden behind it all away from where the tourists can see. before you would have about 8 or 9 hotels in a big resort and 1-5 hotels in a small resort. now the places are filled with hotels, tourist resturaunts, shitty tourist shops at every turn and even our local bazaars are just clothes shops for tourists. and the locals hardly get anything back, most of our local facilities are in the back streets. i'm from a tourist resort in turkey and i was raised in some block of houses that were like slums. and where i lived was behind these tourist shops that would play loud music and hid our houses away from the city. my family has lived in the resort for a long time, we can trace back us living there since the 1890s, but the house where they lived for a whole century was knocked down and replaced with a tattoo shop for tourists. now the slum-like area is getting knocked down for a shopping mall for tourists. i've got nothing against tourism or tourists and none of this is their fault but our government needs to sort its shit out on this and all the other issues this country has.
