There's definitely a shit-tonne to say about how fucking stupid this strategy of hyper-politically-charged ethical consumerism is. It's such a transparently vain and shallow form of protest - doubly insane when its about as something as abstract as identity politics. Latching onto the most inconsequential and facile of approaches like ethical consumerism, bemoaning and antagonising an otherwise indifferent majority of people, and inadvertently making smaller things like a wizard game garner more attention and overshadow the literal murder of trans people - is exactly why its harder for LGBTQ+ to find legitimate footing in the political sphere. I also need a new game because having an alarming amount of these idiots running around in FFXIV is somehow more off-putting than a sea of lalafells.
