What a shocker some people have feelings and aren't as fashionably jaded and cynical as you are.

And yes, racism is such a problem in this country that people do in fact teach their kids from a very young age how to handle it when it happens. If it is so unbelievable to you that a young child might be concerned for the well-being of someone who acted horribly toward them—because yes, even a kid can see how fucked up that is—maybe you should ask yourself why basic empathy towards others is such an alien concept to you.
