2016 Is Over......

You can look at the Cubs, blame the front office and absolve maddon like you seem to want to do, or you can blame maddon and absolve the front office like some want to do. The truth is that the results haven’t been there the last 2 years and a change was needed.

You talk about 2016 being over but a significant part of our core position players from 2016 (Rizzo, Bryant, Baez, schwarbs, heyward, contreras) are likely returning.

Whether you feel it wasn’t maddon’s fault that the players did not perform, the truth is many of these players came with a strong pedigree and maddon who controlled everything from playing time to lineups to player usage to managing position coaches had more control than anyone with how they performed. And as a whole they didn’t perform.

I heard maddon himself say this season he was taking a more hands on approach with coaching players, and when something good happened he would take credit for it. So when they didn’t perform he must shoulder the blame.

As fans we judge players, managers and front office with very little information. The front office and maddon always operated based on things we will never know. So I trust the front office when they decide that moving on from Maddon was the right choice because 1) they have much more insight into the organization than i do 2) i know they want to win and that a world series is the end goal unlike many teams in the league. So I know they are operating on that principle.

I wish joe the best but I, as a fan, are happy they’re moving on.
