I [21M] wish I never married my wife [20F].

Life didn't deal him A shitty hand, he broke one of the cardinal rules that most of us get away with but got punished for it early. That rule was: "don't try to please everyone."

The guy wanted to do right by the kids that weren't his, and I'm just wondering: "Why?" young me would have done this , but younger me did not understand what happens to you if you don't look out for you first.

If you don't look out for you first you will become miserable, less powerful, and you won't have the skills or power to look out for those you need to look out for.

This man's case is that point personified. He went out of his way to help people he had no real business or real need for helping other than A bleeding heart, and while I cannot fault him for protecting and nurturing these children? I can't praise him either, because now he is miserable, upset and lacks the power to do anything about it.

The choice should be clear, divorce her, seize custody of the children and be done with it. But he cannot even come to that conclusion on his own without consulting people online.
