sadness and self-hatred about being filipino-american

Oh what a terribly boring world it would be if we were all the same. Imagine always eating the same foods. Imagine if we all looked the same..

So what if I can't relate to 100% of everything you do. What kind of sad world is would that be? Where is my individuality?

Start stripping away the barriers of race and you find there's a lot to be engaged in. You'll realize that no matter where you come from were all human.

Im really sorry to hear what happened to you and your piece of shit father but my advice to you is this: your attitude will always manifest into events.

Learn to love yourself for being unique, as cliche as it sounds. Be passionate about learning different cultures, as questions, share what you know.

Own your individuality and soon others will respect you for it and want to learn about it. You can't expect people to appreciate you if you can't yourself.

Growing up Asian American I was never once ashamed to bring my culture to the table.

"Eww that smells so stinky, what did you bring for lunch"

"OH u think that's stinky? Wait until I bring my Japanese fermented beans"

Those fools never messed with me ever again.
