The abortion rate is at an all-time low — and better birth control is largely to thank. Use of contraception, especially the most effective methods like IUDs and implants, did much more to reduce abortion rates than restrictive laws.

It's straight up B.S. that this propaganda crap is being allowed on r/science, let alone that it's allowed to represent the sub on the front page.

Here's an excerpt from the article OP quoted about their conclusions:

"Abortion is an important indicator of unintended pregnancy, but it is unclear whether the most recent decline in abortion is due to fewer women's having unintended pregnancies, more women's being unable to access abortion services or some combination of these dynamics. That there were fewer clinics providing abortions in 2014 than in 2011 could be attributed to several factors. In some states, increased abortion restrictions likely contributed to the decline in abortions, but in others, the decline may have been driven by a drop in demand."

Their own conclusions flat out state that they don't know if it's just fewer unintended pregnancies in general or less access. It also flat out states that increased restrictions likely reduced abortions in some states, yet OP states the exact opposite ("contraception did more than laws") as if it's fact. This conclusion reads like "we're not sure, but these things might have caused those things; more research needed" yet it's being twisted and presented as if things are being concluded when they aren't.
